Of the many who served in the 54th Battalion LCol Alfred Carey, who took over from LCol Kemball was a remarkable Canadian. He died in early 1922 of complications caused by a stomach condition. As it says in his obituaries he had a brilliant war record. These entries from the London Gazette give some idea of his service.
